Keurig Machine - single dose
Using your own coffee grounds with a K-Cup reusable pod and a K-Cup paper filter is a great way to enjoy fresh coffee in a Keurig machine. So many people we talk to have Keurig machines and think it is too much work to use with our coffee. It isn't! And the results are amazing compared to the store bought pods! The trick is the paper filter!
Here’s how to do it:
Equipment
- Reusable K-Cup pod
- K-Cup paper filter- available on amazon!
- Fresh coffee grounds
- Keurig machine
Steps
1. Prepare Your Coffee Grounds
- Grind your coffee to a medium-coarse consistency, similar to what you’d use for drip coffee. Our coffee comes ground to work well in the Keurig.
- Use about 1.5 to 2 tablespoons (8-10 grams) of coffee per K-Cup, adjusting for taste.
2. Insert the Paper Filter
- Open your reusable K-Cup pod and place a K-Cup paper filter inside. The paper filter helps improve the taste and reduces sediment in the cup.
3. Add Coffee Grounds
- Scoop your coffee grounds into the paper filter inside the reusable pod.
- Gently tap or shake the pod to level the grounds, but avoid pressing them down, as this can restrict water flow.
4. Seal the Pod
- Close the lid of the reusable K-Cup pod securely.
5. Insert the Pod into Your Keurig
- Place the filled reusable pod in your Keurig’s K-Cup chamber, just as you would a standard K-Cup.
6. Brew Your Coffee
- Select your preferred brew size (an 8 oz. or 10 oz. brew works well).
- Start the brew cycle, and let the Keurig run as usual.
7. Dispose of the Grounds and Filter
- After brewing, carefully remove the reusable pod from the Keurig (it may be hot).
- Discard the used paper filter and coffee grounds, rinse the pod, and it’s ready to reuse.
Tips
- Adjust the amount of coffee grounds depending on your taste preference.
- If your Keurig allows you to adjust brew strength, you can select a stronger setting for a richer flavor.
